Who Can Apply For MD MS Admission In India?
All India students, NRIs, and international who have completed their MBBS from India or foreign country along with one year internship plus also qualified NEET-PG can apply for MD MS admission.
Students can choose the specialization as per their interest, NEET PG score and of course your financial budget. But remember one thing that passing NEET-PG is compulsory. Students will not get admission without NEET-PG.
NEET-PG is a nationwide popular exam for postgraduate medicine courses. But there are some institutions such as AIIMS, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, Nimhas Bengaluru, and Shree Chitra Tribunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, Trivandrum did not accept the NEET scores.
Eligibility Criteria Of MD/MS in India
The students who are keenly interested in studying Doctor of Medicine or Master of Surgery from Indian medical colleges will get admission only through NEET-PG. NEET-PG plays and important role in process of MD MS Admission. PG aspirant needs to fulfil the eligibility criteria of National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for writing NEET PG entrance test.
National Board of Education releases the brochure during the first week of November. This brochure contains all the details regarding eligibility criteria, important dates, exam pattern, marking scheme, etc. The eligibility criteria of NEET-PG are written below.
- The candidate who has done his bachelor or pursuing the last year of MBBS degree from the MCI (NMC) recognized medical university/college are eligible for NEET-PG. The candidates must hold a valid degree.
- The general candidate must have secured 55% marks for general and 45% marks for SC/ST and OBC category students in MBBS.
- They should have completed 1 year internship on or before 31st May of the academic year.
- The candidates must have cleared Foreign Medical Graduate Examination if studied MBBS from Abroad.
- The candidates should possess permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the NMC or State Medical Council.
Eligibility Criteria For All India Quota 50% Seats
As per the NEET-PG, the candidates who want to apply MD/MS admission under AIQ 50% seats needs to satisfy the follow criteria.
According to the NEET PG, the applicants from Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible for 50% All India quota seats. However, they can apply for 50% quota seats, if the government of India has been nominated the students under CPQ for pursing MBBS from the medical college of Jammu and Kashmir.
The nominated candidates have to submit an affidavit signed by the official which states that they have been nominated by the by the Government of India AIQ 50% seats.

The state post graduate medical counselling is conducted for 50% of the seats in all govt. PVT medical college. Only the domicile students of the state can for govt. MD/MS seats. However, a few states like Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh allow non-domicile students for state quota counselling.
Eligibility Criteria For Foreign Nationals
The foreign national candidates can also write NEET-PG Examination. They can appear in the examination without MCI registration. Since the MCI registration is not mandatory for foreign nationals while writing NEET-PG test, but they can apply for temporary MCI registration by paying prescribed fees.
The candidates appearing for the examination must have registered with the appropriate authority of his respected country, their medical degree should be recognized by the competent authority of the country.
Admission Process of MD/ MS in India
The admission procedure of MD and MS courses is very easy for those who fulfil the eligibility criteria of PG specialisation courses. To get admission in MD or MS in India you have to qualify NEET PG exam organised by the NBE. The applicants must hold all the necessary documents required for counselling and admission.
NEET-PG qualified candidate needs to apply for central level and state level NEET-PG counselling.
Medical Council Committee Central conducts NEE-PG Central Level Counselling on the behalf of Director General Health Secretary. The MCC conducts MD MS counselling for the 50% All India Quota seats in the government colleges and 100% seats in central universities like AMU BHU, AFMC, DU, and private deemed universities.
However, the state level NEET PG counselling is held by the Director Medical Education for the rest of 50% state Quota seats in the government colleges and 100% in private medical colleges in respective state. The candidate of general category needed to obtain 50% percentile and 40% required for reserved categories to participate in NEET-PG counselling.

What Is The NEET-PG?
