NEET UG Eligibility Criteria 2022

The NEET UG 2022 was conducted on 17 July, 2022. The NEET conducting authority National Testing Agency (NTA) has prescribed specific eligibility criteria for the medial aspirants seeking NEET exam. The candidates who are interested in this examination, must know the eligibility criteria and every detail about this entrance examination.

What Is The Eligibility Criteria?

The eligibility criteria are a set of parameters that a candidate must have to fulfill. The candidates who cannot satisfy the conditions and guidelines set by the exam conducting authority is not eligible for the exam. In NEET exam, the main eligibility criteria are related to the age, citizenship, passing percentage, qualification, etc.

 Who Can Apply For NEET UG?

The candidates of India, Non-Resident Indians (NRI), Overseas Citizen of India (OCI), Person of India Origin (PIO), and Foreign Nationals can apply or NEET 2022.

All the candidates seeking admission in medical courses should have to appear in NEET UG exam. Qualifying NEET is mandatory, if you want to get admission in MBBS/ BDS or other medical courses.

NEET 2022 Eligibility Criteria – Qualifying Codes

When a candidate is filling the application form, he/she will be asked to choose a NEET qualification code. So, the detailed regarding the qualifying codes are given below.

Code-1

The candidates who are waiting for their Class 12th board result have to select this code.

Code-2

The candidates who have studying from Indian School Certificate Examination or higher/senior secondary examination that is equivalent to 12th board exam and that person comes after 12 years of study have to select this code.

As per the NCERT, the must have studied science subjects such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and Mathematics and other elective subjects along with the English subject.

Code-3

The candidates who have successfully Completed their Intermediate/Pre-degree Examination with science subjects along with the English subjects from Indian university/Board or other recognized body should have to choose this code.

Code-4

The candidate who has completed pre-medical examination or equivalent after passing the Higher secondary examination with science subjects and English as a core subject should choose this code.

Code-5

The candidate who are pursuing a degree course in science and has completed their first-year examination along with the practical in the science subjects, should have to choose this code.

Code-6

The candidates who have passed BSc Examination from Indian University with no less than two subjects must choose this code.

Code-7

The aspirants who have qualified the 10+2 education from the foreign country should have to choose this code. Additionally, the candidates who have passed other examination that comprises physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and that also includes practical tests is equivalent to the intermediate Examination recognized by the Indian University/board.

What Is The Age Limit?

In every entrance examination, age limit is one of the main concerns of every aspirant. However, as per the latest eligibility criteria, there will be no upper age limit for NEET 2022. The minimum age of the candidate should be 17 years as on before 31st December 2022. If found less that 17 years, the candidate will be disqualified.

Qualifying Marks For NEET UG

  • As far as the marks are concerned, so the candidate must have passed Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology in class 12th or HSC Examination. The candidates belong to unreserved category should have obtained 50% qualifying marks in science subjects.
  • The candidates of Scheduled Tribe/ Scheduled Caste or Other Backward Classes have to obtain at least 40% marks in the qualifying exam.
  • Furthermore, the candidate with locomotor disability of lower limb must have secured a minimum of 45% marks for General PH and 40% marks for reserved category in PCB subjects.

Eligibility Criteria For Foreign Nationals

The candidates who have completed their 12th form the foreign country (Outside India) and they want to appear in NEET-UG have to fulfill the basic NEET eligibility criteria.

  • The candidate must have passed 12th from their respective country.
  • They must have qualified 12th education with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and have passed practical test as well.

So, this the basic eligibility criteria of NEET-UG examination. The candidates who want to become a doctor are required to appear in NEET exam. However, one should fulfill the NEET UG 2022 Eligibility criteria before doing for NEET registration.
