Yenepoya Medical College was founded in 1999 and is affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences Bangalore. In 1999, a batch of 100 MBBS students was enrolled Following approval from the Medical Council of India, the college has started postgraduate courses in seven departments in 2005. At the moment, the Yenepoya Medical College offers Postgraduate Courses in 20 departments.
In the year 2009, the Yenepoya Medical College was declared as constituent college of Yenepoya University (Deemed-to-be university under section 3(A) of the UGC Act 1956 as per notification number F 9-11/2007 U-3 dated 27-02-2007). The Medical Council of India granted the College permission to admit 150 students to the MBBS course in 2011.
