Overview of KUSMS
Kathmandu University School of medical Sciences (KUSMS) is a prime medical institution of Nepal. This college was established in the year 1894 in collaboration with Kathmandu University and Dhulikhel hospital. Medical Studies are carried out at two locations.
Study of Basic science is performed at Chaukot in the Panauti area. This complex of KUSMS is occupied with all the required facilities and the university training hospital is located at Dhulikhel area. This location is 3 km away from the Panauti campus.
There are so many Lecture halls, various departments, number of laboratories, PBL classrooms, Digitalized classrooms, media facility, E-library are available in the teaching campus. Moreover, the teaching hospital is also well-equipped and ventilated. It has all advanced infrastructure for fast and latest technology treatment.
KUSMS introduced its own MBBS program in August 2001. The college aims to provide the best quality education to the students in respect of color, caste, religion and nationality. University offers MBBS seats to various International students from all over the world.
KUSMS MBBS Program
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery MBBS is a five and a half year program. The course curriculum of MBBS is designed by the Kathmandu University which includes one year compulsory rotating internship. The standard of study and criteria of admission is strict in adherence to the Nepal Medical Council and Kathmandu University.
The Curriculum is student based rather than teacher centered, studies are problem based rather than subject based.
The MBBS program of KUSMS is also equivalent to Indian medical structure and therefore, this college is approved by the Medical Council of India. The entire course is divided into three parts; in the first two years, students will be introduced with the basic medical sciences with interdepartmental Clinical subjects.
While in the next two and a half years, students learn about the principles of Clinical medicine, Forensic medicine and community service by rotating through various clinical specialties. Then in the last one year, students have to go through Compulsory Internship. Only final year students are allowed to do internships.
MBBS Fees Structure KUSMS
The Fee structure of the MBBS program is very low. Pursuing a medical course in an Indian private college is not a cakewalk, however in case of Nepalese institutions, it is possible. MBBS fees structure is highly subsidized by the government of Nepal, to provide an easy medium of learning professional skills. Students can also pay fees in installments if they will not be able to pay the entire amount.
KUSMS MBBS Eligibility Criteria
Enrollment in the MBBS program will be conducted on the basis of eligibility criteria. Students have to meet the requirements, to get selected by the institution. Applicants who meet the requirements, can take admission in this medical institute. Well! The eligibility criteria of KUSMS is written below.
- Age of the applicant should be 17 years at admission time or as on 31st December of admission year. There is no upper age limit.
- Students must have completed 10+2 years of education or any equivalent education with a minimum of 50% marks in total.
- Students must have got 50% or above marks in PCB and English subjects. Less than 50% marks will not be considered.
- OR, candidates must have completed Bachelors of Science Degree, from a recognized university with at least one subject either Physics, Chemistry or Biology and having minimum of 50% marks in Aggregate.
- Indian applicants have to pass NEET UG Entrance Examination for pursuing studies in Abroad.
- International students have to clear an Entrance Examination conducted by the Kathmandu University.
Admission Procedure of KUSMS
Admission process of KUSMS is straightforward. It is a quick process and completely transparent in nature. You don’t have to submit a bunch of documents for verification or any donation cost for admission.
Applicants who have successfully cleared the eligibility criteria and have passed Entrance Examination held by the Kathmandu University are eligible to take admission.
KUSMS provides 100+ seats every year to the international students. Admission is purely based on your aptitude, communication skills, willingness, NEET scores, performance, Interview, etc. If you have cleared all the requirements, then you must be selected by the institute.
