NTA has released NEET 2024 admit card on 1st May, 2024. All registered candidates may download their admit card online through official website. NEET-UG is a pen-paper based entrance examination for the admission in MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, BVSc & AH programs. The exam has been scheduled to be conducted on 5th May, 2024. NEET is a national-level entrance examination, organized by the National Testing Agency once a year. The aspirant who wants to become a doctor must have to appear for this examination. NEET entrance exam contains 200 MCQ questions, and the duration of the exam is 3 hours and 20 minutes. Read the article till the end to get complete information.

Why NEET UG?

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET is the single entrance examination held by the NTA for admission to the medical colleges of India. It is necessary to quality the NEET test to get admission in MBBS/ BDS/AYUSH/Nursing/Veterinary and other medical courses. The whole process of medical admission depends on NEET scores and rank.

NEET UG 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates seeking the NEET exam must fulfill the eligibility criteria laid by the NTA. On 09 June 2022, NTA revised the criteria and removed the upper age limit form this year. The candidate must check the eligibility criteria details before applying.

Age Criteria

  • The age of the applicant should be 17 years at the time of admission or before 31st December 2024.
  • There is no upper age limit bar.

Nationality Criteria

  • The candidate who holds the citizenship of India is eligible, or he/she should be PIO/NRI/OCI foreign national.
  • All the foreign nationals have to confirm the eligibility clause from the respective medical or Dental college.
  • The candidates of Jammu & Kashmir, UT, and Ladakh are eligible for the 15% All India Quota Seats after self-declaration.

Qualification Criteria

  • The candidates who have completed 12 standard education or equivalent qualifications from a recognized body can apply their main subjects in the class 12th should be chemistry, physics, biology/biotechnology, and English.
  • The candidates must have obtained 50% marks in PCB subjects together. But those who belong to the ST/SC/OBC category need to obtain 45% marks and students of PwD should obtain 45% marks.
  • For foreign nationals candidates, the subjects remain the same and they are also required to score 50% marks that should be recognized by AIU or NMC.
  • The candidates appearing on the 12th can also apply for the NEET test.

NEET UG 2024 Application Process

NEET 2024 registration process  is started between 9th Feb to 9th March, 2024. The registration process is completely online. The interested candidates need to visit the official website for the NEET application form. The official website is- neet.nta.nic.in. The registration process involves four steps.

The candidates need to generate Login credentials, for filling out the application form. Go to the official website and enter basic details like name, DoB, contact number, etc. after filling details submit it and you will receive a Login ID and password.

Use the Login credentials for filling out the application form. Add your details, exam center choice, medium of paper you want, academic details, etc. the next step is to upload the documents.

NTA requires some documents for personal and academic verification. Upload your recently clicked photograph, signature, left thumb impression, and your 10 & 12 mark sheets. Also, upload your caste certificate if required. Now pay the application fee through online payment modes and take a printout of the application form and fee payment slip.

NEET UG 2024 Application Fees

The application fee payment’s last date is 9th March, 2024. The applicants can pay the fee through online payment modes or via UPI, Debit card/Credit card/E-wallet, or Net banking. The application fee for general/NRI category candidates is 1700, and 1000 for ST/SC/PWD.

NEET 2024 Admit Card

NEET admit card is a must-have document for the NEET exam. The candidates can download their admit cards also known as hall tickets from 1st May, 2024. The NEET-UG 2024 Admit card will be only available through the NTA website. The students who have successfully registered can download the admit card.

You can obtain your admit card by entering the login credentials on the official website. Check all the. Details are mentioned on the admit card. It contains all the details such as your roll number, date of exam, exam center, personal details, and guidelines.

NEET Exam Centers

The NTA has increased the exam centers to 543. Now there are 543 test cities across India and 14 cities in Abroad for the NEET test. the exam centers are located in 543 cities. More than 3858 exam centers are located in India. Candidates can opt for 4 exam centers, however, the final allotted center will be mentioned on their admit card.

NEET 2024 Exam Pattern

NEET UG question paper comprises 200 questions. They are no major changes in NEET UG. The candidate must go through the exam pattern to prepare for the examination. Mode of the exam- Offline or Pen- Paper-based.

  • Exam Language – the examination will be conducted in 13 languages such as English, Hindi, Gujrati, Bengali, Marathi, Odia, Tamil, Telugu, Urdu, Kannada, etc.
  • Duration– this year the exam will be conducted for 3 hours and 20 minutes.
  • Type of questions– There will be multiple-choice questions.
  • Total number of Questions– a total of 200 questions will be asked in the paper.
  • Total marks– The examination will be conducted for 720 marks.
  • Marking scheme– 4 marks will be provided for the correct answer, and 1 mark will be deducted for the wrong answer.
  • Question section– question paper will be divided into four parts and each part has two sections A & B.

NEET 2024 Syllabus

The syllabus of the NEET entrance examination has been prescribed by the National Medical Committee. Students should go through the following topics and subjects for better preparation for the NEET exam. The subjects that are covered in NEET are Chemistry, Biology, and physics in classes 11 and 12.

Important topics for the NEET UG exam are given below.

For Biology– Some basic topics will be Human Physiology, Reproduction, Plant Physiology, Cell Structure and Function, Ecology & Environment, Diversity in Living World, Biology and Human Welfare, etc.

For Chemistry– Chemistry topics will be some basic concepts of chemistry, Hydrogen, Equilibrium, Alcohols, Electro Chemistry, P-Block Elements, Surface Chemistry, Electrochemistry, Phenols, Ethers, etc.

For Physics– The physics section contains the questions from the topics Laws of Motion, Electromagnetic Waves, Electrostatic, Behaviour of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Electronic Devices, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Properties of Bulk Matter, etc.

NEET 2024 Answer Keys

The NEET conducting authority NTA will release the online answer keys on the official website . First of all, the provisional answer keys will be released and after that final answer, keys will be released.

The officials will provide a link to download the answer keys along with OMR sheets. If you have any questions regarding answers, you have to pay 1000 INR per question as a processing fee. The cash will be refunded if you are correct.

NEET 2024 Results

After the NEET examination on 5th May 2024, the result/score has been released on 14th June, 2024. The candidates can check their results by visiting the official website. Enter your log-in details such as roll number and date of birth. The result will be displayed on the screen. The candidate should take a printout of the results for future use.

NEET UG Merit List

After the announcement of the NEET result, a merit list will be prepared by the authorities and displayed on the official website. The admission will be done as per the merit list prepared by the NTA and all India ranks for MBBS and BDS courses.

NEET Cut-Off 2024

The cut-off marks will be released before the result. The cut-off marks are the minimum qualifying marks category-wise. The candidates are required to obtain minimum required marks to qualify for the exam. The expected cut-off scores for the NEET 2023 are 50% for the general category, 45% for PH category candidates, and 40% for the reserved category.

The NEET counseling session for admission will be held in July 2024. All the candidates who have qualified for the exam can take part in NEET counseling held by the Medical Council Committee and Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

The candidates need to register for the counseling on the official website. At the same time, they have to fill choices for college and courses. After document verification, the candidates will be provided with the options for college as per their marks and rank. If the candidate is satisfied, he/she has to lock the seat. The candidate has to report to the assigned institute along with the documents for the admission and verification process.
