Is an internship done in Bangladesh paid?

Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery abbreviated as MBBS. It is a long professional medical program. It is considered as one of the toughest courses in the field of medicine. Generally MBBS is a 5.5 years duration program. It is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical studies. This course covers all the facets of medicine.

At present science students from all over the world are showing their interest in pursuing medical programs abroad. In the last two decades it has been noticed that Indian students have shown huge interest towards Bangladeshi medical institutions.

To secure a seat abroad, Indian students have to clear a NEET entrance examination. Bangladesh Medical Colleges and universities are approved by the Medical Council of India and Medical and Dental Council of Bangladesh. It is also accredited with many other medical concerning bodies such as WHO, ECFMG, FAIMER, ACGME, MCC and many others.

In past years, Bangladesh has shown great improvement and growth in medical education. Therefore it is becoming an important part of delivering medicinal courses and healthcare services. In Bangladesh, students who are pursuing an MBBS course have to go through a compulsory internship.

Internship is mandatory for everyone, whether you are a national or international student. Internship is an important part, to become a successful Doctor. The Students who didn’t go through internship are not eligible to call as Doctor, until they will not complete their internship.

Mostly internship of MBBS student is of one year. It is the last but compulsory part of the course. Students of Bangladesh medical colleges and universities have to take this training under the supervision of an experienced Doctor or supervisor. Internship is held at different “upzilla health complexes” in Bangladesh.

Internship is like a temporary medical license to perform as a Doctor under supervision. In Bangladesh internships are paid, interns are awarded a fixed amount monthly. However, the stipends of interns depend upon the location and type of health complex in which they are taking training. The value of monthly stipends are not the same in various states, it can differ from one to another. Monthly stipend will be around 180US$ or above.

Further decisions related to medical education or internship must be taken by the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council. Students can be awarded either higher stipends according to abilities. After completing a one year internship, you can apply for a job in any country. So, without delay, go and grab your MBBS seat in Bangladesh.
